I have a few degrees under my belt coupled with a choppy work history. How do I find a good paying job?
I had a recent loss in my immediate family that drove home the fact that I need to stand on own 2 feet. I’m over 40 and feel like I’m automatically discounted for being overqualified or unstable work history. Been out of school for years; how do I even get first interview to get the job to begin with?
Depending on your interest, you best bet is networking. It sounds old, but it is very effective. Whatever you want to do, look for local organizations, clubs etc. related to that subject matter and join them, meet the people and that should help you.
If that does not interest you, I would choose a large company and get in any way you can, ground floor. Big companies have a lot of growth opportunities, particularly if you look for ways to get involved in extra activities and develop yourself once you are on board.
