Car Crash Injury Compensation?
Yesterday I was in an RTA (Road Traffic Accident) were the car i was travelling in lost control and hit a wall on the passenger side (I was in the passenger seat). I went to hospital and have been diagnosed with whiplash, bruised and possibly broken ribs, and a bruised and possibly ruptured spleen. If I am lucky and the ribs are only bruised and so is the spleen are they still claimable for compensation due to the discomfort and trauma caused alongside the whiplash? Also I am now going to miss college for a few weeks resulting in me going behind in my studies and risking my place at university in September, are these also covered in the compensation claim?
All help is much appreciated… thanks
Any pain and suffering payout is going to depend WILDLY on what state you are in.
Although lost wages are compensable, missed time in college is not (although with bruises, missing class time is an excuse! You can sit in a chair!) Work hard, and catch up. Even if you decide to skip two weeks of classes, you can catch up, so “risking your place” isn’t a real issue – and isn’t compensable, if it is.
