Unemployment Question need help?
I applied for unemployment and I got approved. My first payment was 3 weeks worth of compensation. I filed my bi-weekly claim on Sunday but I didn’t receive payment today Wednesday like I was supposed to. My question is this since I got 3 weeks worth on my first check does that mean that I’m not receiving payment until I do my bi-weekly claim again? help. Btw I’m in PA
I was unemployed for a time last year. My first check was for 5 weeks in arrears (was quite stressful waiting for that first batch of money). After that I got a check each week. Your first check was for the outstanding weeks so I wouldn’t expect there to be a break in the action now. You should continue receiving checks every other week for the most recent claim period.
I was filing a claim each week but similarly to you I’d file my claim on Sunday and usually receive my check the coming Wednesday. Occasionally, however, it came on Thursday. Bear in mind the unemployment offices are dealing with about double the workload they had just a few years ago. I wouldn’t worry at this point. As long as you are filing your claims each week/bi-week, you will receive payment for those weeks. If you don’t receive by Friday, call the unemployment office. If necessary, they can stop payment on a lost/presumed lost check and reissue it (you will probably have to go to the UE office and fill out an affidavit). This happened to me once and a couple checks later I got paid for 2 weeks.
