I was hit by a car 11 years ago…..?
Broke my leg and wrist. I was 20 feet from where the car stopped. I am now having back & neck problems (resulting in severe headaches and numbness in my back) and have arthritius in my wrist this is all directly related to being hit by the car.
My question is – can I go back and reopen my case to recieve more compensation? or once you have recieved monies is it all said and done. At the time I was under age and my mom had to sign all papers regarding the accident with lawyers and such.
Also, someone told me that the money was not taxable and yet the goverment made me pay taxes on it. Can I go back to them and get the taxes I paid back?
This happened in Canada.
Thanks for your help!
I shouldn’t say that I am NOW just starting with the back issues, it’s been going on for a few years. It’s just getting worse the older I get.
I live in Canada too, so I don’t need to speak to a US lawyer. But Thanks!
My Doctor and my chriopractor both say this is all related to the car.
If an automobile insurance was the one covering all medical expenses…then they will continue covering any medical expenses related to the injury. If you sued someone and received a lump sum…no usually you cannot go back for more money. That’s why they pay one lump sum…to cover future possible costs. Since you were a minor at the time…it may be possible to fight the previous settlement….i suggest contacting a lawyer.
